How to apply

Application process

We are looking for eight students with disabilities and eight non-disabled students .  We anticipate there will be more applications than places available so unfortunately we will not be able to take everyone who would like to come.  We will be looking for a range of people, with a diverse set of experiences to best help us achieve our aims of improving fieldwork.

We are also looking for four-six interested observers.  People from organisations and institutions involved in educational fieldwork, who are interested in seeing the use of the technology first hand.  There will be no teaching involved and we do not expect you to necessarily have a geological background.

Applications will close on Wednesday 23rd May at 10pm.  Successful applicants will be informed by Friday 8th June.  We will also keep a waiting list in case anyone should be unable to come.  Applications will be considered by members of the project team and its steering committee.

What you are signing up to

The field trip is about exploring which methods assist inclusion and accessibility in the field and to develop and share good practice.  As part of this we will need your opinions.  We will ask you to fill in questionnaires before and after the trip and to talk with members of staff about your experience on the trip.  The questions used in these feedback questionnaires and sessions will be approved by the University of Leeds Ethics Committee as appropriate and fair.  This is standard procedure for any University research that involves working with people and that result in publications in scientific journals.  You will not be personally identified in any of these publications.  You will be able to withdraw from the field trip at any time.

Full details of the consent forms and health and safety risk assessments are currently being developed and will be available in the next few weeks.

Applications are now closed.
